Bolting & Torquing Supervisor

Job Summary:
A Bolting & Torquing Supervisor is responsible for supervising and leading bolting and torquing teams during maintenance, shutdown, and commissioning activities. The role ensures full compliance with approved procedures, safety standards, and flange management best practices, while coordinating manpower, tools, and work documentation.

Key Responsibilities:
• Supervise and lead bolting and torquing teams during maintenance, shutdown, and commissioning works.
• Oversee manual and hydraulic torquing operations up to 155 mm.
• Supervise bolt tensioning activities for stud sizes ranging from 2 3/8” to 4”.
• Ensure proper implementation of flange management practices and gasket control.
• Plan jobs and conduct risk assessments prior to execution.
• Troubleshoot and resolve critical and complex bolting issues on site.
• Manage bolting and torquing tools, ensuring availability, calibration, and safe use.
• Review, verify, and approve Final Torque Reports (FTR) and related documentation.
• Ensure compliance with applicable standards including API, ASME PCC-1-2022, and SAES-351.
• Ensure strict adherence to HSE requirements, permit-to-work systems, and site safety procedures.

Qualifications / Skills:
• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or ITI / Vocational Certification with strong field experience.
• Proven experience supervising bolting and torquing activities in industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of flange management, gasket control, and specialized bolting techniques.
• Excellent job planning, coordination, and team leadership skills.
• Strong troubleshooting, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
• High level of safety awareness and ability to work under pressure.

Certifications & Registration:
• ECITB Bolting Competency (MJI Modules) or OEM Certification.
• OSHA or NEBOSH Certification.
• Work Permit Receiver (WPR) – Mandatory.

Working Conditions:
• Work is performed at industrial sites and field locations.
• Exposure to heat, noise, and heavy equipment.
• Requires use of PPE and strict compliance with safety policies.
• May involve shift work, overtime, and extended hours during shutdown or commissioning activities.
